Post It Notes for your PC

The Macintosh includes a utility called 'Stickies' which many Apple owners use very successfully as they might a Post It Note, attaching reminders,  to-do lists and other free-form data to their desktop. And yes, there are equivalent programs for Windows.

We've seen commercial software from the makers of Post-It Notes that behaves more or less like the Mac's "Stickies" utility. (It even lets you print out "real" Post It Notes.) However, there are a large number of shareware titles. Try these ones first:

You'll find several others at www.download.cnet.com  One is called Post It Software Notes 2.0, but we ran into problems attempting to download it (don't you just hate getting a "download failed" error after an hour of downloading time?). Another title listed at this site is Geonotes, but it lacks some seemingly basic features, such as preferences for size and placement of boxes.

Elsewhere, WinMag has a link to a commercial offering called "Paste'm Notes" and says it is "just like Post-It Notes for your computer." Paste'm Notes can even be set to send you an e-mail or page you at a specified time. It's $9.95 from Odin Americas, Inc.

Or, if you prefer a super-small stickynotes application without all the extra features and baggage some of the above-mentioned titles seem to contain, you might like REM Stickynotes, from http://rem.softclub.net/index-e.html. This title is a meager 16K in size and, best of all, it's freeware.

If none of these are suitable, here are some other links, as found by www.altavista.com
