Smart Cards

Certainly, one of the keys to growing smart card acceptance - and the success of e-commerce and online security - will be the ease with which smart card adapters can be used with personal computers.

SmartDisk Corporation has announced a new version of its Smarty smart card reader/writer. The Smarty is unique among smart card adapters because it offers the portability and simplicity of its 3.5-inch floppy form factor which slips easily into a computer's floppy drive, thereby eliminating the need for cumbersome cables and complicated port configurations.  This new version boasts longer battery life and compatibility with a wide range of smart card standards.

Since the   fall of 1998, SmartDisk has been developing strategic relationships  with market leaders such as NEC and Gemplus and anticipates that Smarty will be a key component of their security and e-commerce applications.
