June 28: Noted at MacInTouch.com:
Miglia's DV-INabler, now available for $109 or 109 Euro, enables the DV-IN function in many camcorders that do not already have it enabled (primarily European models). Miglia says:
Contrary to product shipped in the US and most of the rest of the World, DV Camcorders shipped in Europe typically have only DV-OUT enabled, this meant that for those users who wanted to import and edit their movies on their PC, the only 'record' solution was back to a VCR. No longer is this the case, DV-INabler downloads the code required to activate the DV-IN functionality of your camera and therefore allows recorded and edited footage to be written back to the camera tape from your Windows PC or Macintosh.
June 10: Sony has revealed that its own MovieShaker 3.1 software is currently the only software on the market able to decode the MPEG2 signal from MicroMV tape format of the Sony IP7 MicroMV (DCRIP7E). This camera does not support standard capture-and-editing tools such as Pinnacle's excellent Studio 7 application (which works with almost all other analog and digital capture sources). A discussion forum at webboard.pinnaclesys.com has details.
